Dire Consequences: Assurance in the Lord

What the Dire Consequences: Assurance in the Lord ?

Dire Consequences: Assurance in the Lord

For you will certainly carry out God's purpose, however you act, but it makes a difference to you whether you serve like Judas or like John” - C.S. Lewis

Fulfilling a Promise

God made sure the Israelites got to Canaan and provided them with all they would need and more. Our Heavenly Father asks them to follow in his example, so future generations will too.

“You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”  - Deuteronomy 11:19

Overflowing with Blessings

Thus, the Israelites who obeyed his command would be blessed within the land. From their grain, crops, oil and the rest of their livestock. As well as their essential needs in order to grow their fields.

“And if you will indeed obey my commandments that I command you today, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, he will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the later rain, that you may gather in your grain and your wine and your oil.” - Deuteronomy 11:13-14

Neglecting his Instructions

Thus, those who disobey will be punished for their arrogance. Where they will be stripped of everything God has bestowed upon them. Not only from the materialistic things, but from the land as well.

“Take care lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them; then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and he will shut up the heavens, so that there will be no rain, and the land will yield no fruit, and you will perish quickly off the good land that the Lord is giving you.” Deuteronomy 11:16-17
